Trash Film Orgy

Sacramento this weekend was pretty fun. Went to the Trash Film Orgy at the Crest Theatre on Saturday night, with Emily and some of her friends. We saw Dead Alive, Peter “Lord of the Rings” Jackson’s B-grade zombie flick with an audience of people dressed as zombie’s and assorted oddness. It was a pretty gruesome, yet comical film, and I highly recommend it to anyone who thinks they can deal with zombies being butchered with lawnmowers, hedge clippers, blenders, and all sorts of assorted horribly bloody deaths and dismemberments. I didn’t get a chance to go to A-1 comics today, but that’s no huge loss. I caught a ride back to Rohnert Park with Kate’s boyfriend, Max, who lives in Santa Rosa, so that worked out rather nicely.

Michelle cam over this evening, and hung out with Erin and Timm and me. We went to Aroma’s for a bit, then came back and watched a documentary on Cane Toads in Australia, which was really a lot more fun than it sounds.

Me and Timm are planning on sending in a submission for noise fest in Sacramento, a noise-music festival in October sometime. Hopefully we get accepted so we can test the level of pretention and noise-endurance in these noise fans. He he he…I think Timm’s working on patches already.

Clockwatching

One hour and fifteen minutes until my work week is over.

Counting. Counting.

Today was nice and easy, considering how hectic it’s been the last couple of days. I like having a nice, mellow Friday to ease me into my weekend. And I’ve got a couple of really short work weeks coming up, since I’m taking 5 days off to drive to Canada for Ingalise’s wedding next weekend. I’ve never actually driven that drive (19 hours each way!) but I’ve been on it several times as a passenger. And me and Emily are going to take a somewhat leisurely two-day approach to the trip, too.

Tomorrow though, we’re heading into Berkeley with Holly, to go visit the Vivarium, Comic Relief, and Amoeba Records. In other words, it’s going to be an expensive day for me….hehe. I’m hoping Amoeba will have Kid A on vinyl this time…they were fresh out when I made my big shopping spree a while back, but that was the SF store, so who knows.

I also hope to play a lot of Vice City this weekend…much to Emily’s dismay, I’m sure. I may end up working on music instead, though.

The damn Bay Guardian wasn’t in any of the racks yesterday, or today. What the fuck? I had to spring for a Chronicle to read on my break. Those bastards are slacking on their Santa Rosa distro…(I saw copies at Video Droid last night, in Cotati…Incidentally, we rented The Awful Truth Season One: Vol. Two (after watching the first season last weekend), Fritz the Cat, Felix the Cat (har har), and Requiem for a Dream, which I still haven’t seen yet, unfortunately.

One Hour and seven minutes.

Counting. Counting.

Blah Blah.

Sitting at home right now, waiting for Emily to get back from Sacto, which should be in roughly 20 minutes. I spent the day hanging out at home, reading and listening to records, then went over to Reed’s house for the evening. Me and Reed chatted about X2 and the Matrix for a bit, especially about x2′s obvious superiority. Seeing it made me all nostalgic for reading the Chris Claremont run of Uncanny X-Men again. I probably would re-read them if I could find my copies…But alas, I think they were sold at some point. Ah well.

Also saw Michelle at Aroma’s…she was too busy studying to hang out with the rest of us, but we chatted for a bit. Always great to see her. Hopefully we can play music together when her finals are done…I haven’t played any actual instrumental music in quite some time now. I actually had an idea for a musical project that would involve me running to e-bowed guitars through Audiomulch, but I would need the Quattro to work on my laptop, which it doesn’t. (Ouch…grammar police? Can you check that for me? Yikes).

Anyways…still haven’t met Reed’s girlfriend…I think I was there during the gap in his day when she’s at work. My visit was sort of bookended by her, I think. I’m sure I’ll meet her soon enough.

Me and Joey are planning on doing some Buzz collabs…should be fun. Me and Timm are thinking of doing the same thing. I’ve wanted to some more back-and-forth stuff for a while now….

A’ight…enough for now. More Later…

Cactuses

Another hectic weekend with no sketching done…but that’s ok, I cameo’d in my pal Joey’s movie, and got to work the clacker for another scene. This could be my big break…

But I did come up with a name for my new character, I think. Sommerset. I’m going to see how that sits with me as I draw him some more…

Short post. More later…

Sketching

Started a new sketch of Nico in action mode last night while waiting for The Two Towers to start (wow). Black tank top and jeans in this one, Converse-esque sneakers (first time I’ve drawn her feet, not sure if they’re her “look”). I think I’m getting the eye(s) right this time. I might try inking this one in a really deliberate, thick outlined, slightly angular style, with some high contrast shading, if any, rather than my usual messy hatching. Eventually, I’ll get a couple of these scanned and posted, maybe play around with some computer coloring…

Haven’t really thought about her character or story too much though. Been distracted by Tolkien and Jackson, I guess. More later…
