Blog Eats Posts, Citizens Alarmed.
I tried to post on here from work a couple days ago, and apparently my post was eaten. Oh well, I can’t even remember what I was talking about anyways. Must’ve been important.
Keith, Sojiro, and I have the apartment all to ourselves until Friday night sometime, since Emily and Michelle have gone off to see their families for Turkey and Gluttony Day. It is truly a swinging bachelor pad now, I tell you. Too bad there’s no time to throw a raging bachelor-pad style party…hmmm…..
New X-Men 149 is out today, along with X-Statix 16. I’m really enjoying both series’, as I’ve mentioned before, and I’ve been dying to see how Morrison is going to bring this story to a conclusion in the next tow issues, before his final “future” storyline takes place. He’s really shaken up the status quo that had apparently endured since I stopped reading X-Men years ago, and it’s been interesting to see someone take these characters to new places, while still staying true to the characters’ natures. But I’ll bet you anything that it all gets wiped out by the next writer. I probably won’t even bother following the series after Morrison leaves.
Speaking of comics, there’s supposedly a new issue of Love and Rockets Vol. 2 on the shelves, although my crappy local stores don’t carry it, apparently. I know the Comic Book Box in Petaluma would have it, but I’ll probably end up heading down to Comic Relief in Berkeley to pick it up, along with other Hernandez Bros. goodness, this weekend. I hear Comic Relief could use a bit of financial help anyways, so I’m glad to do my duty and help out such a great store.
I picked up the Flaming Lips Ego Tripping at the Gates of Hell EP on Friday, and I’m really impressed with it. It continues on in the Vein of their last two albums, but it’s a little more balanced between the electronic sounds of Yoshimi and the live-band orcehstral pop of The Soft Bulletin. The drums on “Assassination of the Sun” are simply amazing, really subtle and complex, with plenty of variety. Truly cool. and the Postal Service remix is a lot of fun….
Band practice tonight. Still searching for a name. But we almost have three complete songs now…whoo hoo!
More later….
