Ideas
I tried out a couple more sketches of Nico this weekend (haven’t tried the “winter look” yet), and i haven’t quite nailed down her eyes yet. Her mouth, I’ve got…this kinda feisty pouty thing she has going on. Her nose is pretty easy, and the shape of her face is pretty well defined, but her eyes just don’t look right to me yet. I’ll keep working on her. I’m thinking of taking her in a pretty stylized, high-contrast direction anyways, so she’ll need some tinkering for a while. I went art supply browsing, and I’m thinking of picking up some pens. Mostly sharpies, but I need a new Rapidograph (or two). I’m still kicking myself for not buying that 7-pen set for $40 at the Art Store in Berkeley….grrrrrr.
Anyhow….character stuff…She has a car, i realized. A shitty one, mid-to-late 80s hatchback of some sort. A Datsun or something, with a cassette deck that barely works. (Note to self: practice drawing cars!) She definitely lives in a city, somewhere relatively cold and Northern, but I still haven’t nailed that down yet. This is all up for revision.
She has a best friend. Her name is either Audrey, Audra, or Aubrey. Something of the sort. She’s a tall, angular looking girl, with either short hair, or hair that she wears in interesting styles (think Princess Leia). I don’t know how they know each other yet. That’ll come with time…
