Nico
I’m starting to draw again. After several years of nothing. I’ve been inspired, at last. In large part by Em, and in part by some comic artists. Paul Pope, Seth Fisher, Sam Kieth and Katsuhiro Otomo, mainly.
“Who is Nico Riley?” is a sort of notepad for a character I’m working on. I want to make comics again, and I’m forming ideas. The ideas are starting to revolve around one sketch i did recently, a character who I’ve decided is named Nico Riley. She’s my main character, but I don’t know much about her yet. Which is where this blog comes in. As I sketch her, I get a better feeling for who and what she is. I’ll record my thoughts and ideas about her and her world here, as her personality develops.
What I know so far: She’s a woman. Youngish, thin, medium height. Long dark hair, thick and mop-like, usually worn tied in a loose ponytail in the back, and hanging over one eye in the front. Usually found in jeans, a plain black t-shirt, with an open or partially open dress shirt over top. Sometimes a tie, perhaps? We’ll see.
Carries a gun, a snub-nosed revolver, though I’m not sure why. She’s not a bad girl, although she does have her vices. Smoking is among them.
I’m not sure where she lives, what she does, who she knows, or why her story (whatever it may be) is important. These things will come. This is a start though…
